Ucluelet, aka Ukee by the locals, means "people of the safe harbour" in the indigenous Nuu-chah-nulth language. Located on the Ucluelet Peninsula on the west coast of Vancouver Island is a small working class town that is slowly transitioning into a tourism based economy. Like it's big sister, Tofio, Ucluelet offers many activities to enjoy the area including, whale watching, fishing, and kayaking to name a few. This specific image is of the Ucluete Harbour. Most of it is filled with fishing boats. With the weather being overcast there isn't much interest in the sky that adds to the overall dynamics of the photo so I figured it would look better as a Black and white image. I think it also brings out the details in the harbour and boats that represent what has been the backbone of this town for a long time.
