Chinook Pass Sunrise II
My whole goal for this trip was to take capture sunrise and sunset images of Mt. Rainier from Tipsoo Lake. Taking a quality image is another thing. So many elements need to come together to get a special shot. One thing I already knew was the wildflowers were past their peak so getting a them in the foreground would be tough. The other big issue that I have no control over is weather. To make things even harder on myself this was a quick trip so I only had one morning and one evening to do that. I would have been happy if I would have got some good shots from either one. But, just my luck, the view of Mount Rainier was blocked by low clouds on both sunset and Sunrise. For sunrise I was coming up Chinook pass from the east and things looked promising. But the closer I got, the more concerned I was. All I saw was grey clouds. I tried to scramble for some alternative. As I drove back around Yakima Peak from Tipsoo Lake I saw potential for a sunrise shot looking east. There weren't many clouds in the sky to add intrest orfilter the sun so I had to work fast. I was also luck to find a few patches of wildflowers to add intrest. In the end I didn't get what I came for but in some ways I think it is better.
